In 2021, our initiative – Ujale Unki Yaadon Ke, invited artistic projects across disciplines that captured the experience of COVID in Mumbai. The 5 selected grantees created work through photography, music, dance, documentary, stories and theatre. At the end, an audience gathered together to hear about their process, see glimpses of their works and celebrate the role the arts played to record, honour and heal through this unique time we have lived through.
Other outcomes of this initiative included a published book of photographs of Mumbai’s experience of Covid and the Marathi play – ‘Corona cha Tamaasha’ (initially supported by this grant) that won the fellowship for the Global South in the Edinburgh Fringe Festival of 2023.
